Gainesville, FL, October 12, 2017 —- Gainesville Interior Designer Lori Evans, co-owner of Evans Construction & Design, recently won three awards from the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) in the 2017 Annual ASID Design Competition. Two of the award-winning projects were in Gainesville, Florida and the third project was in Greenwich, Connecticut.

Judged by its design-industry peers, the ASID Design Awards is one of the most prestigious and sought-after awards programs in the design industry. All projects were presented anonymously and Evans won both First and Second Places in the Residential Individual Space category and First Place in the Residential Renovation category.

The award winning “Toddler + Teen Playroom” took home First Place in the Residential Individual Space category. The project, in Gainesville, Florida, aimed to create a playroom to work for two very different kids. “How do you create a playroom suited to a 3 year old boy and 13 year old girl? It’s not impossible and we set out to prove it,” said Lori Evans. Storage and room to play for him, plus a hangout area for her, and cohesion for Mom was on the table. The space was approached with a neutral palette, to tie in the rest of the home. Fun accents, but calming larger pieces set the tone for the space. Both kids and Mom were happy with the final result. A triple win!

The award winning “Colorful Greenwich Family Room” took home second place in the same Residential Individual Space category. When a young family moved from hip San Francisco to very traditional Greenwich, Connecticut, they wanted a room just as lively as they were. Typically known for a very traditional design aesthetic, Evans wondered, can you do color in Greenwich? Yes, yes you can and Evans is here to prove it. Flooded with natural light and open to a beautiful view, the Family Room serves as the center of the home. They wanted something not too serious, not overly fancy, but still sophisticated. Pulling from a navy and orange color story, Evans Construction & Design created a perfect hang out spot for watching TV, playing games and entertaining.

The award winning “Classic Kitchen Remodel” received First Place in the Residential Renovation category. A fun family in Gainesville, Florida desperately needed a Kitchen Renovation. Fresh, clean, calm and rich were the words they used to describe their ideal space. Evans used traditional, timeless materials to update the space and provide a warm center for the home. Classic white shaker cabinets, a mix of granite and quartz tops, stainless appliances and polished nickel fixtures fit the bill. They removed an exterior door, added two windows and reconfigured the space completely. The room now opens onto the fireplace and the Dining area is adjacent.
